Im glad you made it. You got some great shots. Dunes have such sensuous lines. I lived in Colorado for twelve years when I was much younger and certainly regret not seeing some of these places.

I am glad too. Photo opportunities abound in such a place. Thank you for a fine comment.

After living in Colorado since 1987 I FINALLY visited the Great Sand Dunes National Park near Alamosa, CO. I have been near the area several times hunting antelope but never thought to actually go there. What a dumb move on my part. Now that I am no longer a Colorado resident I thought it a good idea to visit when my brother invited me to go along to take photographs. It was far more than I expected and a beautiful place to visit.

Please feel free to make any comments good or bad as I took the opportunity to turn some photos into black and white from my Leica M10. I also took a roll of black and white film on my Leica M6 TTL but have not had that roll developed yet.

I found out that walking in sand dunes is not an easy task at 73. I had knelt down on one knee to take a photo and then when trying to get up I fell back down on my butt. I then had to get up on both knees and hold both cameras in one hand by the straps while pushing up with the free hand. I fell back down again before finally getting up on both feet and steady. My greatest fear was dropping the cameras into the sand. I was fortunate that only a small corner of one camera even touched the sand. I blew it off and all is well.

Thank you very much for a great compliment. I struggle with black and white and your comment gives me hope to one day get a handle on it. Much appreciated sir.

nice photos; I have often said one has to move away from where he has lived, and come back to visit it.
I was last at GSD in (?) 1985; was in CO for a week last year, but it is really out of the way from where we were.

Thanks for taking a look. I look forward to seeing your photos. With snow here soon the white of the snow against the shadows of the sand should make for some challenging opportunities AND some hard walking too.
