Some do, and they are pretty easy to spot.

But there is a reason for post processing. It helps a photographer to realize his/her vision and creative intent in ways the camera cannot capture. One of my "recent" (2017) images was very deliberately shot and post processed to do just that. The original image was ok, but definitely did not capture the tonal range and color depth of the processed result. My eye could see a lot more than the camera did.

.

I don't think I will ever tire of looking at this photo!!!

Hi Ozmon,
I rarely consider any photo of mine that I choose to post, mount, frame, etc. finished, unless I do some processing. Rarely ever straight from camera to post - for me anyway.

If you were to study the history of photography, you see that all images since the beginning of photography (camera obscura) have been manipulated with post-processing.

I'm sure that a ton of people do. But not me. Since I shoot raw, I MUST process them or what would be the point of shooting raw? The would be dull and flat. You MUST process raw photos.

It was my understanding that shooting RAW almost always requires post processing. If you shoot jpeg, the camera processes the image for you.

Sorry, but you are not entirely correct. Successful SOOC is about knowing your camera (really knowing it) and setting it up to produce the shot according to how you decide - a greater skill required than the try, err and retry of Post P. However, I acknowledge that it is possible to chimp and change settings with Pre P.
I also acknowledge that my interest is landscapes and structures rather than action photography.

Tired old question. Photography is about expression and that means do what you like and don't worry about what others do!

Not including slides, I presume?

Not usually because I import my pictures with a preset that adds the lens profile, and a few basic edits, plus I always crop a little.

The only time I would post a SOOC pic is if I am asking for help.

Nearly always a bit of crop, often, possibly as much as half the time only that. Unless I have made an error on a photo I particularly want, almost never anything major.

Worry? of course not, but lively discussion can be a great teacher.

Most of my Printing these days is done at Costco (always the same store). All my photos can be improved by Post Processing, some more than others. After I PP, when I am sending them to Costco I make sure to check the "No Autocorrect" on their site. My results are very consistent. That's to say not all my photos are worthy of printing.

Good shooting

Never. I shoot only Raw, and I don't really know how to show that straight out of the camera.

.04 % PP on the JPEG before posting. Also depends on the camera used - mirrowless no need since there is in-camera process that is acceptable

If you shoot RAW, import to LR or PS and immediately export to a jpg. There is no additional processing done.

If you go into your camera settings and zero out all styles (neutral style where all are set to 0), then import from card to LR and again go right to the export dialog and do nothing, it will show just that, but it will be very flat with low contrast.

In film days, you got film that had certain characteristics of how you liked the print output. The negatives were alway corrected somehow by your lab personnel. Only slide film was without any enhancement, but YOU did have to input the exposure, so technically, you were 'processing' according to your opinion of what a 'good' image would be.

I don't know why this question was asked, because you are using your artistic vision to make it what you want...That entails some kind of LR/PS manipulation.
