Hi, Folks - a couple of friends from New Zealand would like to come to the US to photograph birds and other wildlife and scenery in or around Florida in March. I haven't done this myself, so I'm excited, too. Any suggestions for a week or ten-day trip?
Thank you!

Without knowing where your trip will take you, start here. http://floridabirdingtrail.com/go/
Once you have mapped out your itinerary, then go to Goggle to check out the sites you want to visit. Not all of the sites are the same, and birding varies from year to year.

You’ve gotten many good suggestions here. I suggest you also check out http://floridabirdingtrail.com/ and the book, “A Birders’ Guide to Florida,” by Bill Pranty.

Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island on the west coast of Florida. Everglades National Park. When my husband and I used to play golf and before I got into photography, we saw many different birds on golf courses!

The Circle B Bar in Polk county is also a wonderful place for birds. It is between Lakeland and Barstow.
Lots of trails and quite a variety of birds and, if you get lucky you might photograph the Bobcats that live there. And it is free

Feral cats are a big problem in Central Florida.
I don't recommend shooting thenr but they are certainly bird murderers.

I decided years ago that I'll put up with a few rodents and not own an outdoor cat because I want birds around.

They are a problem everywhere. They kill millions of mostly song birds every year.

Gee, maybe we shoot the people who do that, too?
