Thanks, User_ID, I don't have a lot of lenses, but I can't afford to replace them and I like the full frame.

No one has brought up the fact that the Z cameras cannot autofocus with the older lenses that require a motor in the body. Do you have any of those? You might be buying new lenses if you do. The lenses that will work are labeled AF-S and may include the letter G.

I have a Z6 and a few Nikon DSLRs. The Z6 is perfect if your shooting is leisurely. If action is the game, not so much. The focus in lower light is slower than the DSLR's. The wake up time (it likes to sleep to save the battery) is pathetic.

The 2 Z lenses I have, the 14-30 and the 24-70 F/4s are very good and give you a nice light package. If you use long 'F' mount lenses you won't really notice much weight savings overall. I'm hoping they come out with a "Z" 70-200 F/4.0

I know someone here mentioned the firmware update. Maybe that improved the autofocus performance some. I'm not sure if the Z6 I rented had the update. There's something else that bothered me a little with the camera. The electronic viewfinder is a little jittery when panning. The refresh rate of the EVF is not fast enough to get a smooth viewfinder image when panning. It's not bad but noticeable. Also, objects close to the camera look very sharp in the viewfinder but more distant objects look grainy. Maybe if they increase the resolution of the viewfinder, that will help. I think the camera is great for static subjects but not so good for motion.

It is true that the EVF can be a little jittery when panning quickly. This is the case with most if not all mirrorless cameras. Put simply you are looking at an image taken with the sensor, processed and re-broadcast to the display.
As to resolution, the Z series EVF is 3.5 million dots and is one of the best in the industry.
Looking through an EVF will never be as clear as through a mirror, but what it does do is give you instant feedback of how your picture will look with the current settings.

A good example is nightscapes. When doing them there is no guessing with settings. The EVF and rear display show you the exposure with the settings applied.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

The Nikon trade-in deal got me. I just traded in my 750 on Wednesday, and got the Z6 at my local camera store (Calagaz). I haven't been able to put it though much yet, but very pleased with the few pics I've takenso far! I was really worried I was going to miss my 750, but I think it's going to be okay!

If you are going to take advantage of the Nikon deal (which is pretty darn good), you only have t the 28th!

I sent back the D750; ridiculously heavy for lil old me. I use the Z6 with the 24-70 it comes with for portraits, events, and landscapes and have never been happier.

I am an ex-Nikon user for the same reasons you are dealing with. I went mirrorless about 2 years ago and have never looked back. I loved my Nikon gear but grew to hate the weight. I now use my camera more and have become better at my craft (imho). The 6 wasn’t out yet; I went with Olympus.

Yes, that caught my eye but I'm reluctant to jump. All the feedback here has been very helpful. Will rent first. Glad you are happy. I need to be very sure before I trade in old gear plus my 750. Have a feeling there will be more deals down the road - and I need to be very sure first.

Weight is my issue - but sounds like for shooting I do, and with lenses I have, the difference would be minimal compared to the $$ involved.

I have a friend who shoots sony and one has a fuji. They are happy, but I like the idea of using the 2 lenses I have.

You have all been very helpful. My plan will be to rent and try it. And to wait until I am fully convinced.

You should be good. I use the same lens on my D810, but I do find it to be rather large and heavy for a walkabout lens, especially compared with my older lenses like a few primes and the old 28-105 AF D.
