NIKON 16 - 35

The 16-35 is probably my second favorite lens for landscape photography. Like my favorite, the 28-300, I have a 16-35 for both Canon and Nikon. The Canon lens is a 2.8 L series lens while the Nikkor is an f/4.

This was a pano with a 24-70 - I had my 14-24 but was unhappy with the result.

Quick three shot pano, 24mm with camera in portrait orientation.

That is one excellent shot. It shows just how good, and versatile, that 24-70 really is. I am also a fan of Panos in portrait orientation.

What are your the favorite lenses for the perfect landscape? I currently use the Tamron 70mm-200mm
F/2.8.

I have read in previous topics on this forum, that a 70-200mm lens is ideal for landscapes. One person I know uses it exclusively for fast action sports. I would think that a wide angle zoom lens beginning with at least 16mm would be ideal. Not so, for far away mountain shots. I rarely do landscapes photography. My next zoom lens will be wide enough for indoor photography. And landscapes, if I so desire. I currently own a Nikon 70-300mm.. Your camera succeeded the D600, that had some problems. Not all though. The full frame D610 is now discontinued. Good reviews it had. Good luck.

Thanks!

I was on my way out of the park and the sky just appeared. I managed to get one shot with the wide lens then changed it up. I don't care for the 14-24 at 24mm.

I mostly shoot with my D750. For landscapes I prefer my 24mm, but if I am doing a bit of everything from street photography to portraits to landscapes I like my trusty 24-120mm F/4.

Tamron 28-75 f2.8 and Tamron 17-50 f2.8. The 28-75 is a full frame that I use on my D3400 DX. The 17-50 is a DX lens and used on my D90 DX. IMO both are good for landscapes. If I had a D610 my first choice would be the 28-75 f2.8.

Agreed. I do like the 14-24 for some things such as RE interiors, but I like the 24-70 so much more, especially the latest version which I purchased when Nikon first offered the $ 500 discount. Had I realized just how much better it was going to be, I would have upgraded sooner. Here I was thinking the VR was the 'thing' when it really was improved lens performance. Best of luck.

That's going to open a can of worms. Everyone who has whatever they use and how many cameras and how many lenses they have, just to brag a little, is going to put their $0.02 in.
I would do my own research based on budget and what you think is important for your landscape pictures. There is no this is the one answer. As you will soon find out.

Isn't that what we are doing in forums? Sharing our photography experience? Equipment is part of the photography experience, so where would you suggest he do research that's better than a group who's combined knowledge includes nearly every piece of equipment ever made?

It would be a very boring forum if photographers didn't share their experience. You may refer to it as $.02, but others may regard it as helpful information. If it has no value to you, then maybe you can show us what a valuable contribution to the discussion looks like. It's easy to criticize others. It's harder to add meaningful comments, based on experience, with examples to the discussion.
