Used to like them now hate them, hate them, hate them. I thought they were beneficial for garden pests but learned that they like to stalk hummingbirds and grab lizards, both of which they eat alive. And the garden is still full of pests.
But it is a cool shot.
I can't imagine that a preying mantis would be big enough to capture a bird or a lizard.

There are videos on YouTube if you can stand to watch them. I just dispatched a preying mantis that was nearly three inches long--easily twice the size of the baby lizards that live under my porch. They use those long powerful front legs to snag their prey and hold it, and then start munching.
Unbelievable that a bug could do that. Don't blame you for not liking them.
