Hello everyone, I will be flying to Newfoundland this Friday and would like to get any tips to where to go for really nice pictures. I've checked out some websites, but it would be nice to get some tips from someone who have been there too. I will be staying on the east side (St. John's) and will be bringing with me a nikon D90, D7000, 24-120 and 70-300 lens. Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks
my mother and family are from newfoundland. i lived there for 6 years. my mother is from colinet, st.marys bay (about 60 miles from st johns). i went to school in Placentia..a city on a sand bar in Placentia Bay. My mom married my step dad, who was in the navy and stationed at Argentia. That whole avalon peninsula is beautiful. my grandfather was a game warden and worked at beaver falls, just on the other side of dunville. (which overlooks placentia bay).
you will be in st johns, so you are not far from all things beautiful!!!
i went tuna fishing in conception bay, off st. johns.
everything is beautiful....

I was stationed at Argentia for two years in the late sixties. Loved it. Lived off base in Plaentia for a year. Great fishing, adopted my son there. Hope to go back and visit after retiring next spring. great place for photos, almost anywhere!
I was born in St. Johns but left when I was only 6 months old. Please post whatever you get! I need ammo to convince my wife we need to go sometime. The closest I can even get her to remotely consider is Nova Scotia.

That is number one on my list, :)
Thank you everyone, I was hoping for some tips, but I think I will be okay, I have checked out the websites and got some ideas on where to got for some nice pictures and lobsters too. lol
Can't be many people...since it seems to have been newly found.
Newfoundland was settled by Europeans 500 years before Columbus.
St. John's welcomed European fisherman well before Columbus.
Go to Cape St Mary, on the Avalon Peninsula great bird sanctuary very close to shore. If you drive down Burin Peninsula to Fortune you can get a ferry boat to France (St Pierre&Miqulon (sp?) All great for photos and people are very friendly and helpful. Enjoy!
