Walked around the yard with the small camera and extension tubes in hand looking for insects however there were none to be readily found (I think they put the word out to stay away from our yard). Not to let my time outdoors go to waste, I found the beauty in many things around me as the play of light and shadows did their early morning dance.
The last photo is of tubular slime mold that is growing on the side of a tree. I thought that it was a huge hairy caterpillar at first glance however the mold was just as interesting of a find.
As always, thanks in advance to all who view and for your comments, suggestions, questions and critique.

I enjoyed your pictures. I have not used my macro lens lately and now I have some new ideas.
everything is beautiful 🎶 nice shootin
Jill, I went out in the early morning hoping to finds some insects that were less active than they are in the warmth of the day although without success.
There were still areas of the yard that had shadows cast across it in spots and the sun's light was till at a low angle which made the pedals of the flowers look ablaze which caught my eye so I did what I could to capture it.
If you have a macro lens (or a standard lens with some inexpensive extension tube) you will be able to get a lot of separation of the subject and its background with a high degree of up close detail.
I truly hope that you can enjoy some time out with your camera for the simple things around you can provide some quite interesting beauty.
