We spent the past week in Washington, DC. We always try to find some different spots that are either iconic or off the beaten path. We arrived mid day last Saturday and decided to spend the afternoon getting lunch at Ben's Chili Bowl, an iconic spot I had discovered on the internet. The map was deceiving. We walked from Union Station and it was 10 times farther than it appeared on the map. We were exhausted when we finally got there. The place has a lot of charm and the staff was both friendly and helpful. Ben's is know for its Half Smoke w/Chili and Cheese. The food was very good but I must admit the chili was too spicy for my taste. I am very sensitive to hot foods. However, the charm of the place made up for it and it was an all around good experience. Fortunately, one of the staff told up we could catch the free DC Trolley that would take us back to Union Station. What a life saver for tired feet! I'm not sure I could have made it back to Union Station on foot.

Nice set and D.C. is like another country with so many neighborhoods and places to eat. They have something for everyone I'd say. I am always amazed at the various cultures that abound in this little district between Md. & Va. and the foods are incredible.

Thank you very much. There’s more to come but I’ve been too tired to process!

I agree, Blair. I really like DC and I’m not a city person. There is just a special element that is hard to define.

Thanks you, Merry. I had on walking shoes but that didn't spare the rest of my body!
