Olympus has EXCELLENT customer service after the sale. I will be sticking with them because of that. The M1-II should definitely be on the short list of suspects.
I find it interesting that users that have little or no experience with a brand feel free to badmouth it. Most brands are capable or they'd be out of business. The writer currently has a Nikon she should stay with that brand as it is what she is used to.
The one bad thing about this site is the trolls

The K-1 and the K-S2, but I have a substantial array of lenses that work wonderfully. Another BRAND I like and have is FUJI. Fuji seems damned good, almost as great as pentax. As someone said earlier, cameras are nearly all good, it’s the glass that matters most. IMHO. . RJM

They have made serious improvements in bodies recently, putting perhaps less importance on lenses.
The recent Pentax K-70, KP, and K-1ii have improved high ISO capability, so there is less need for so-called 'fast' lenses.
"The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it!". A quote from Ansel Adams I personally totally embrace his concept. I shoot a D850 and enjoy the challenge of learning how to make it work for me, even at my age. It does not have the buffer that a D500 has but that does not mean you cannot use it for wildlife work if you want. JPEGs right from a D850 are some of the best ever.
Achieving your goals is never as important as buying the newest camera.
The Nikon D850 for sure!!..Price is now down to about $2700 USD, and 7 frames/second is fine for action. It is arguably the BEST all-around camera you can by today!, and will accept virtually ANY F mount lens ever made. I personally own and use a D500 for action wildife, and landscapes, and can produce images up to 20x30" on good files. This one is now down to about $1500 USD. Today I'd spend ther $2700 on the D850, and use the "change" toward the purchase of some good glass!

I have been searching for months for a high megapixel camera. I mainly shoot portraits and landscapes but with my 6 grandchildren growing older and into sports there may be some action photos once they stop picking the dandelion’s in right field.
I have looked at the Nikon D850 which states it is not good for action shots. I have also looked at the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II which had the option of relatively 50mp.
I was brought up living in the Finger Lakes region of NYS, specifically on Keuka Lake. I’m dying to get some great seasonal photos which I want to blow up onto canvas, basically around poster size and I don’t want to loose any resolution.
I would appreciate any recommendations. I’m so sick of reading camera reviews, I need some good solid advice from people who know what they are talking about and have used these models. Once again, an all around camera with a good assortment of lenses for what I want to use it for. Thank you all so much. PS. Would like to keep the price of the body only around $ 3,500. Willing to go higher if I must.

The "best" all around camera is quite subjective - but many, many will say the Sony RX10IV - myself included - AND it will save you about $1800 ! ......
https://www.kenrockwell.com/sony/rx10-iv.htm.
The Sony A9 is the king right now, and Sony doesn't stand still.
The A9II is coming very soon, and will increase the disparity further.
So... three choices.
Sony A9 right now. Sony A9 discounted after A9Ii comes out. Sony A9II when it comes out.
If people envy your gear, that's worth something, isn't it?

- maybe the one thing that WE can agree on ...?
Welcome to the forum, Deb!
The D850 is outstanding for sports and action! You will never exceed its capabilities shooting sports of your grandchildren, in fact, it will probably be over-kill.
On Tuesday, I was shooting soccer for the first time with my D750, (older, less resolution, slower everything). A star player broke free and charged right toward me and the goal. I had the continuous motordrive set to "low", yet the sequence I got had 12 very sharp and in-focus photos. On AF-Continous, the system adjusted focus fast enough to keep up with the speed he was coming at me.
The lens was a 25 year old Tamron 70-300 I had just picked up for $20. He and his family were thrilled with the photos. (They were 5mp jpegs, by the way!) If, with my comparatively low-end system, I can get wonderful quality, you have nothing to hesitate about if you can get a D850 with a 70-200 2.8.
Support for such a camera is just as important, XQD cards, fast external and internal storage speeds, lots of RAM, high speed graphics cards etc.

If your technique and photography prowess can make use of the fine detail high MP offers, any of the top consumer, and most all the pro cameras will be just fine. You will need lenses that are up to the task (40-50 MP doesn't do as much for you if the native resolution of a lens tops out under 20 MP). I can do sharp posters with my old D90 and a decent lens, and it is only 12.3 MP, so my D7100 and 7200 are great too. They are much better for action, and all around are a big improvement. The fine detail of the range you are speaking of will require due diligence to make the best of all that resolution. On my budget - I'd put most of the money into the best glass, and p/u a decent used or refurb body. Full Frame is wonderful, as is high MP resoultion, but it could frustrate w/o the right glass. At any rate, enjoy whatever you pick and have fun.

Hmm, high MP portraits and landscapes ........maybe the Fuji GFX 50s - but that would leave out sports. High MP is usually associated with cropping - usually not needed for portraits or landscape ....just sayn'.
