there is a very good app called inaturalist. You can post any plant, animal, insect etc and you will get an answer.

I have an abundant supply of Fox tail in my garden right now and it is more fuzzy. Your's is Fox tail after the fuzzy parts have fallen off. It would depend on climate, etc. I snapped this photo a few minutes ago after viewing your post. This is our Fox tail after excessive heat and dry weather. Not trying to steal your thread, just showing the differences in southern and northern states. Your photo is better, anyway.

On first glance, it looks like wheat but the germ is to small. It is fox tail grass. It makes a nice prop or addition to cut flowers.

could also be Elymus canadensis -Canada Wild Rye. Lots of similar grasses in the Elymus family. Did a search in Bing by the picture. (Right click on picture, chose search on Bing.)
