I heard that Precision Camera was a good place for Sony repairs but I'm having doubts. I called them 2 days ago and left a message for "Barbara" to call me back ....., nothing. Today I checked out their ratings on Yelp and there were quite a few very bad reviews this year. Can anyone suggest an alternate source for Sony camera and lens repairs? Thanks!

If it is OUT OF WARRANTY, Sony tends to farm those repairs out to other companies and they do not do them themselves.
But, this sometimes depends on the make and model of the Sony product.
There repair service is the only reason I have hesitated buying from Sony. This is an area I think they can improve on.
Remember, they are relatively new to advanced photographic equipment and I believe they are moving in the right direction but are not quite there yet. IMHO

I have had nothing but bad experiences with Precision camera repair. The returned my lens and camera body without any lens and body caps. The did not fix the problem with 2 attempts. They would not even respond on the missing (3) caps. Had to have sensor cleaned locally after these idiots touched my camera.

I have had good experience with United Camera Repair and my old Sony A700.

Thank you gasman57, billnikon, RWR, rwilson1942 and bjin okla for your suggestions and comments. I looked at the reviews for Royal Camera and they also seem to be going downhill lately. I will contact Sony and continue to look for a reputable repair shop.

I just had a lens repaired from Precision Camera. They did a fine job. I had to wait an extra week for parts but the lens and shipping was great. Just my experience. My advice if they didn’t call back then call again. Bother the heck out of them. I didn’t need to but do whatever it takes to get the job done. The company did a very good job for me.

As a member of Sony Imaging Pro Support, I have had only excellent service through sony to Precision Camera. However, there are certain Sony equipment requirements. The price I pay annually is less than I would pay anywhere for three cleanings a year. Free overnight shipping to and from is also a good thing with this membership.

Thanks chapjohn, ob1 and basil q for your input. I may try Precision again but it kinda bugs me that I pretty much have to beg them to take my business!

The Sony product repair page https://us.esupport.sony.com/support/s/service?language=en_US lists Precision Camera and Photo Tech 1-212-673-8400 www.phototech.com for out of warranty repairs for Sony cameras.
Try Photo Tech if you don't like Precision. Let us know how things work out. We don't often hear of folks needing repairs for their Sony gear.

The only connection to Minolta/Konica is the inherited lens mount. The last 10+ years is ALL Sony.

Tempecamera.com in AZ is an excellent repair facility for all major brands of cameras.
