Although this seems funny at first glance, we all know it isn't true. Everyone is treated the same in our justice system. Right?

We will see this carried out in the college entrance bribery cases coming up, Right?

We see this in our community in Lancaster PA. A very high percentage of people in our prison are people who have not been convicted of anything, but cannot make bail.

They should have gotten rich. Then they probably wouldn't even have been arrested.

Year, two weeks in jail for Felicity Huffman, and she thought that was too much.

If I was the judge and if law allowed I would have made it weekends in jail for a long time and she has to work then pay tuition for at least 10 students from low income families to attend university - through grad, medical school etc.

And if she failed to meet those goals she goes into the slammer for a full year and a fine big enough to send 10 students for their 4 year degrees.

Then have all the rest of the judges on the cases of the others caught doing the same thing follow the same guide lines.

In your dreams, Jerry. In your dreams.

I find this cartoon to be a bit confusing for it appears to me to be two different subjects. One is the inequity of the justice system applied to the wealthy compared to the less fortunate. I understand that.

The other is granting immigration to the wealthy or highly skilled who have an easier path to entry than a less fortunate person. I understand that also.

I just don't see how they both go together in this cartoon.

Felicity Huffman gets 14 days in jail. African American woman, homeless, gives an address that is not hers to enroll her child in school: gets five years in prison. This is "justice" in America.

They go together in this cartoon because, sadly...that is our America today. The wealthy and entitled are treated better than the "huddled masses yearning to be free."

Don't forget: the DHS secretary said the "huddled masses yearning to be free" quote was added after the statue was erected, so it doesn't count.

And wealth inequality has reached it's highest point since 1980, so the huddled masses have now been even more huddled for 39 years. It does count. The DHS secretary is an idiot.
