This is a focus stacked magnified view of the Cicada's face. I found the mouth part to be interesting. I have read that they can live from 2-years to more than 17-years before they become adults which then they may only live a few months.

This session was another experiment using pastel gradient paper behind the subject as a background. This image was taken with a 50mm reverse mounted enlarger lens mounted on a helicoid extension tube and adjusted in length and magnification until its head filled the frame of the camera.

Thanks in advance to all who view and for your comments, suggestions, questions and critique.

Very impressive. I did not know that all that you said, could be done. Interesting way of getting up close and personal. Thank you for sharing this cool photo.

A face only a mother could love! Is it any wonder that so many movie monsters have "bugs" as their inspiration. As usual, beautiful work!
