This is a focus stacked magnified view of the Cicada's face. I found the mouth part to be interesting. I have read that they can live from 2-years to more than 17-years before they become adults which then they may only live a few months.
This session was another experiment using pastel gradient paper behind the subject as a background. This image was taken with a 50mm reverse mounted enlarger lens mounted on a helicoid extension tube and adjusted in length and magnification until its head filled the frame of the camera.
