I didn't notice that things weren't as straight as they should have been - a simple 2 degree adjustment fixed it!
I always pay attention to light poles and building lines.
If I may reply as an American who has never been to Glasgow-- may I suggest taking your city shots minus people in them. Nothing mucks up a photo of a land so full of history and challenge as people and automobiles.
The wet streets are a plus-- a huge plus.
Can you arrange a sitting with your city minus human and steel and accept cobble and glare?
This means getting up in the morning and packing your gear to the site when the city is asleep, though alive with history. Take your remote switch and a thermos of coffee and capture Glasgow in its quiet.
You wont be sorry. Though it takes a discipline to throw the blanket off.

Actually, we were waiting to catch the train to Oban and I decided to catch some street shots after the rain. I get what you are saying but cities are made up of very interesting people and without them are merely ghost towns. BTW - I'm from Ohio and am currently enjoying a three week holiday in Scotland.
Don't I feel like a idiot/bully. I'll bet Glasgow has some pretty cool pubs to photograph from the street. Hope to see some more.
