Hello all,
I went to use my fairly new Nikon 2.8 300mm vr2 lens today. I only used it twice. It seems it will not autofocus and just hunts . I here the drive motors running or something else not sure because the focus just remains blurred . I can manually focus but when I select Auto focus On it goes out of focus
I have VR normal on, full selected, memory recall middle off. I have tried other settings as well.
I’m using this with a D810 body and tried other lens and the camera seems ok
I appreciate your help and thank you for your time
Hello all, br I went to use my fairly new Nikon 2.... (show quote)

Hello everyone,
I just received my 300 2.8 returned from Nikon. I’m not sure what these components are but this is what was replaced:
SWM
Main FPC
MR Ecoder Unit
CKD Communication
Not sure if some of the above are processors or PC boards. All covered by warranty thankfully.
Thanks for your replies

It was nice of you to tell us the outcome. Many folks forget that part. Glad they took care of it.

SWM stands for "Silent Wave Motor". That's the motor that moves things into {and out of} focus.
CKD Communication means they checked the communication between camera and lens.

The other 2 I don't know.

Thanks so much for the information. I’m glad that it was under warranty
