I am a Nikon camera man and enjoy shooting landscapes and reading all of the info from the advanced Hedgehogers. I recently have encountered a problem with my printer that maybe some professional can address for me. Noticed recently my printer (Canon Pixma) started printing double /shadowed printing on documents, not on every line and only when printing in black, works fine in color. Strange as it seems this happens on both (2) of my identical printers. Could this be an update issue? Canon just gave me the run around. Tried all of the cleaning, nozzle checks, head alignment, even the removal of print head and cleaned it, but nothing helped. I'm lost maybe the name needs to be changed haha. Or like some Guy online stated take it outside and smash it with a large hammer. On the serious note any help would be appreciated.

And the head alignment didn’t work? I’m lost too? Sorry!
Did the head alignment automatic and manual did not change or fix anything.
I had a similar problem. Some paper got jammed inside. I was able to remove it. Then had some problems. The printer needed cartridge alignment. I tried to
re-align the printer cartridges. Nothing worked. Back and forth. I was getting frustrated. Called Canon. Great Customer Service. The technician explained that when I placed my hand inside the printer I smeared grease on the cartridge alignment rail. I cleaned it and now I don't have a problem.
My suggestion is to call Customer Support.
Call Canon (877)287-7032 they are great
I Called them once maybe I got a bad agent. I guess I will try again.
I had a similar problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, fixed it!
I would give Canon service & support a call, you can find their number online just Google Canon service and support. Hope that helps, it helped me once
good luck! Always uninstall then install, if that doesn't work give them a call

When you said that you are having the same problem on two identical printers that indicates to me this has nothing to do with your actual printers. It might be possible that the same problem is hardware related, but highly unlikely. What is the common element between each printer? If both printers are connected at the same time then you might try swapping the USB cables, but that is also unlikely. The common element is your printer driver. Have you completely uninstalled the drivers with both cables removed? After that the first thing to do is to plug the cables back in and let the computer find the proper drivers. You could also go online to Canon's web support and download the latest drivers.
call canon they can help you
drc023 Both identical printers (Pixma 7720) are at different locations (different states) and both have the same problem. Both printers are connected wireless on different networks and different routers. That's why I thought it must be a printer update issue. It has not always been this way seems to have been after Canon put an update on the printer and asked if I wanted to update, I should have said no.
