Hi all. Probably my next lens. The new tariffs become effective tomorrow. Does anyone know where this lens is made by Sony? I just bought the Tamron 17-28 and was waiting fo get the Sony next, but I'm concerned that the tariffs on China might be moving the price up.

Have you considered the Minolta AF 100mm f2.8 Macro lens? You can get a high quality A mount to E mount Adapter for Sony to retain its AF abilities and buy this Wonderful lens on eBay. Was rated the best macro lens ever made and the Sony model is optically the same with more bells and whistles. And a huge price increase! I own this lens and can attest for its Beautiful 1:1 macro images with the Incredible sharpness and bokeh! You won’t be disappointed and will save Hundreds over the Sony.

Although not 'polite,' bringing politics up at this juncture in our history, for me at the least, is a moral imperative: we are in deep, very deep trouble, with danger afoot of even greater damage to our citizens, our democracy, our reputation in the rest of the world (except for Russia), our economy, and, most importantly, the world's environment. I will refrain from pushing further, except to say, "it is time to jettison politeness, while remaining open to earnest, sincere discussion of real issues." This is a a photo discussion context, but, if it had existed in pre-Nazi Germany, would we have avoided these distressing considerations to remain polite? I fear the answer would have been, "yes." I pray daily for all of us, for indeed, "we are all in this together."

As i said earlier, take your left-wing political bias and lecture to the attic section, where you will be PREACHING to the choir. Or, go to the Christian section, where you may find HOPE.

Not left-wing; rather, central, despite the Far Right's pull into the netherlands of vitriolic rhetoric and misconceptions. I do hope rather than fear, even though, with DT, fear is much more appropriate. I will refrain from further efforts; your response makes clear that discussion is unlikely, but for those who are intrigued, here is an article that speaks intelligently to some of the problems we are facing: https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2019/08/29/conservatives-say-weve-abandoned-reason-civility-old-south-said-that-too/

Lens is made in Thailand, so tariffs will not effect the price.

As I commented last, I will refrain, even as I am more than worried about our context. Thanks, Blurryeyed.

It's cool, I am a frequent flyer in the Attic but never bring politics into this forum, it is as they say, bad form.

This guy has Trump Derangement Syndrome. He honestly feels that our country is endangered because of the news feeds he listens too. I feel sorry for him and hope he relaxes soon. Sir, try to realize that the liberal news people are making your life miserable. Stop watching MSNBC and CNN for awhile. Take a deep breath and have some faith in your other citizen's intelligence.

Azted, Thanks for considered reply; I watch CNN, MSNBC, Fox, and BBC, but most of my sense of things comes from The Economist and Foreign Affairs, in conjunction with various friends in England, France, and Italy. I do find all the major TV networks excessively strident, other than BBC. I will avoid discussing the madness here. Again, thanks.
