I am going to Dublin, Ia.
Looking for places to photograph, day, night or early morning. I have not been there before and will be walking, or using ground transportation. Thanks for any and all ideas.

There is not much left of the tiny community of Dublin, Ia. I believe it is in Washington County Iowa. What you want to photograph there? Is there some family connection?

I am from Iowa and had not heard of Dublin. It looks like it may be a ghost town, and there is an interesting old building that looks photo worthy. I like to go to Bridge Hunter site when I am looking for things to photograph and it looks like there are some interesting bridges in Washington County. But that my be difficult if you are walking.
my bad! I am going to Ireland. But thanks for the info
That will be a lot more exciting than Iowa!

Me too, we get there next Monday after a wedding in Brittany this weekend.
Checking out Newgrange nearby on Tuesday.
Older than the pyramids and Stonehenge.
But tickets are not available on -line, they are renovating the office and it's first come, first served.
I don't think it's a place for photos in any case, just very interesting.
We are headed west to Dingle and the Ring of Kerry for most of the trip.
Have a good one!

The abbreviation for Ireland is IR.
While Dublin is full of photo ops from Molly Malone's statue to the famous Trinity College Library to the whole Temple Bar District (locals actually do like to drink there) to breweries (yes there are places in Dublin where beer is made, who would have thought), I like the surrounding country side. There are small towns and villages and a lot of graveyards. I particularly like Enniskerry, County Wicklow. The Powerscourt Estate there is magnificent. If you are feeling flush (as in $400-500 a night) you can stay at the Powerscourt (formerly the Ritz-Carlton Powerscourt though it is still part of Marriott) and enjoy great food and top service. The area in and around Enniskerry is all you expect of the Irish countryside. It is about 14 miles south of Dublin and, oddly, takes about an hour to get there whether you are driving yourself or taking public transport. If you go direct form the airport, which is nearly twice as far away, it is 2 hours by public transport but only 40 minutes driving. Hint; driving in Dublin City is terrible.

You’d probably get lost anywhere east of the Hudson.

That is an dumb comment based on lack of knowledge of Iowa.
Just got back from Dublin. +1 for Trinity College library; also check out St. Stephens Green (very large picturesque plank in the heart of the city). For something different, the Guinness brewery tour is very cool and has some interesting photo ops.

Cute. Getting lost would be better than Iowa.

I know it's always a destination location. How silly of me.
