Drove Down to Bisti Wilderness (NW New Mexico) Last Week to Shoot the Milky Way with the New Moon
Slept under the stars in just our sleeping bags. Shot until around midnight, then walked back to where our bags were set up. Very cool lying watching 6-8 meteors before I fell asleep. What made it even more interesting, when we got within about 10 feet of our sleeping bags, I came very close to stepping on a Sidewinder Rattlesnake. I think he was more surprised than I. Watched him sidle off into the darkness.
Made for some interest crawling into our bags on the ground for the night.

First image is in an area called "The Cracked Eggs" at the beginning of the blue hour.
Second image is in the same area just moments after sundown with Alpen Glow.
Third image is a Milky Way capture with some light painting.
Fourth image is a large, beautiful petrified log sitting on top of a hoodoo. Interesting from a geological standpoint in the middle of the badlands.
Fifth image is a group of Hoodoos late PM.
I rented a Nikon D850 to shoot the Milky Way and used my D810 for my first try at star trails. The D850 is a beautiful camera to use.
