The camera club says the next topic is machinery, so here are a couple of shots I took
The windmill is 80 to 100 years old and still works. It lives in outback Queensland and the hot, dry atmosphere has protected it over the years. I have a suspicion that someone greases it from time to time although the nearest house 60+ kilometers away. The sky here is normally cloudless. I added the clouds in post.
The second shot is an old boat winch on the shores of Lake Macquarie in coastal NSW. This was taken at night with flash.
If you are asking for a choice, you can’t go wrong with the windmill--it’s excellent.
Beautiful lighting and composition on the windmill image. Both are nicely done.
Excellent captures...your photo club should be happy with these!!

Both fabulous images, more story in the winch really. What did I just say? I'm a windmill lover. But I love the rusty gears.
Nice. There's art in some machinery.
Love them both. Super shots.
Love the windmill but the winch is packed with texture. That always screams B&W to me. You might try it and see which way you like it best. Both great.
Very sharp and crisp shots, John, very well done.

The windmill is very nice, but the photo of the gears is great too. Like both
I tried B/W but there is no tonal contrast in the image. This one is only good for colour.
Looks like it. Still a good shot.
B&W sure makes the gear train a stunner. Love it.
you can almost hear the sound of the old machinery!
