I see where Sony has released some entry level mirror less cameras, is Nikon ever going to release some entry level cameras that some of us can afford.

Have you checked the Nikon website or thought about calling Nikon? That might be your best source of information.

Is is a complaint? If so, I really hope the admin starts a new section called "COMPLAINTS" and we can get rid of many postings of this type.
No its not a complaint, I was hoping someone had some inside information.

Most everyone here knows everything ... but, none know the future with any more precision than
https://nikonrumors.comAnd even then, those are only rumors ...

Nikon does not let inside info slip much. You could shop for a Nikon 1 camera....the Nikon 1 was mirrorless, and cheap, and will be cheaper now that it is discontinued. It came in various models....the S1, through S3, J1 through J5, and V1 through V3, at least. There may be more I have not heard of. They used a 'one inch' sensor, and had a 2.7X crop factor. You might still find one, used, if you shop hard enough. Right now, Nikon is pushing the larger Z models. If they catch on well enough, Nikon may bring out an entry level mirrorless, but that probably won't happen soon. Nikon still follows the standard Japanese philosophy of "slow, slow....fast, fast." They go slow on designing, and developing, a new item, and bringing it to market...and then go fast on promoting it once it is on the market. The few times they have violated this philosophy, they have regretted doing so, as the items either failed to launch, or launched, and sold poorly. If someone at Nikon had inside info, and released it, they would be fired. Don't expect anyone to be willing to lose their job just to satisfy your girlish curiosity.

Nikon had made entry level mirrorless cameras for almost 10 years, the Nikon 1 system. Now discontinued for full frame mirrorless development.
I love my J5. Bought it used from mpb.com. It takes phenomenal photos and is extremely pocketable with the 10 mm pancake lens. The 10-30 mm pd has a built in lens cover so you won’t lose it. Downside is battery life. Think of it as an iPhone on steroids with interchangeable lenses. All of my lenses take 40.5 mm filters so everything is interchangeable. I’m so accustomed to talking cellphone photos that there is no learning curve involved. And yes, there’s only a 1” sensor but that’s what the Sony A6x00 has. I’ve blown up prints to 16x20 with no artifacts. Well worth the price IMHO. For examples check my username and my night photo here on uhh.

answer: In most cases a camera company will work in one area at a time; Nikon decided to work at high end. They need to perfect various aspects - Sony needed at least five years - you should give Nikon a few years grace.

Last year after the restructuring, Nikon said they were going to focus on higher end products. That would imply they are moving away from entry level cameras.
At least for now, as was explained well by Rehess directly above.
However a company needs entry level cameras to attract customers who will later buy higher end products. So I would seem that they will eventually introduce an entry level interchangeable lens mirrorless camera.
Or just wait a year and the price of the Z6/Z7 will probably be 1/2 of todays price.

Sorry but you are wrong! The A6—- series is APS-C sized sensors. What you should have said is that the RX-10 and RX100 series are 1”sensors. It is particularly annoying when someone gives false info on a site like this!

I am sure they are.
Going by rumors Nikon is dropping 5 or so DSLRs and that would indicate that they have some pretty exciting entry level mirrorless coming out soon.
