The 3rd and 6th one look like what I have labeled as Red-spotted Purple butterfly (Limenitis arthemis astyanax) aka American White Admiral. I don't have a clue where I found the name, but you can do an image search and see what you think. I have a couple that I named this but they don't look exactly the same. A lot on the search look a good bit different as well?

These ARE absolutely beautiful! I am most likely going to a butterfly exhibit in Santa Barbara, CA this Monday, 10am-1:30 pm) Would you mind sharing a few tips for getting the best shots I can. I have a Canon SL2, and 18-55mm, 24mm, and 70-300 mm lenses. Any tips you would have on which lens,(or lenses), best f stop, shutter speed, ISO would be probably be 100 or 200,(depending on the light in there of course)correct? Santa . It is supposed to be sunny and warm.

I am still quite in the learning stage, however, since butterflies are one of my favorite critters and fascinate me, I would love to learn how to capture them the best way I can. So any tips and advice you would care to share would be much appreciated!
Thank you,
PhotoNat

Well, I us the new Canon Powershot SX70HS. I shoot in a mode on the camera called Like Painting, hence the vivid colors. It also has a mode called Like Watercolor which I have not used yet.

This camera only comes with one lense, built into the camera. 22mm to 1385mm.

This is my 4th Canon Powershot camera.

I love it.

I am almost 75 now, I like the fact that I do not have to carry a bag of lenses with me. It is very light weight, a plus for me.

the 3rd and 6th butterflies are swallowtails. The red spotted purple, do not have tails. They are one of
natures look alikes. Birds wont eat them because they look like a Pipevine swallowtail.
