It was a great day at Lake Michigan for those who love the waves. I photographed surfers and kiteboarders, and swimmers enjoying the lake earlier in the day. Then, at the last minute, I scrambled down to the water at sunset. While I took some beautiful photos of the lake, and sunset, etc.. getting my beloved lighthouse in some photos, it was this photo that really spoke to me. It needs a title and nothing "right" is coming to mind. Any ideas?

Why is it necessary to give the photos a title or some (often) stupid captions. Why can't we simply let the photograph stand on its own merits.

We don't need to be told what or how we should think about a photograph.

I like your reply. Every photograph can mean different things to many people at different times. I was taught to photograph for creating a story about it. Perhaps someone else can create a different story. Either way, a photograph should be intended to communicate a message.

Lone surfer enjoying the last wave; this brings back days when I use to enjoy the surf of the East Coast

Truly an inspiring photograph!

I'm not really fond of titleling a photo. Photography is communication and expression. I want people to tell me what they see.

If you want it to have a title then try, "Waiting?"

What an image! It has feeling, is telling a story and is begging for interpretation. Just like a great piece of artwork. Nice job. It does deserve a title.

For me it is definitely evening as the person seems serene and reflective on the day's events. He looks a bit tired as well. Even the dark tones in the clouds give me an end of day impression. So, what is he thinking? A title with that in mind might work well. Something totally opposite of "Surf's up!", right? Perhaps "No More Rides", "What a Day" or "Goodnight Waves" that Len suggested. I'm sure you have some ideas and others here will as well.

Sue, I hope it is OK to have added this picture to the array I use for my personal Desktop/Screen saver collection. It is not often a single picture captures so much.

Thanks
