Yesterday I took my wife to her monthly rheumatologist appointment and was waiting for her in the car. By the way, the car is a brand new Chevy Equinox Premier that we've had for less than a week. Anyway, I was sitting in the car and I noticed this man walk up behind the car, then walk up the driver side of the car, then walk back to the rear of the car.
A little info that's pertinent to the situation. We own two adorable Coton de Tulear dogs, a brother and sister. Coton de Tulear's aren't your average run of the mill dogs. For one, regardless of age, they are like perma-puppies. Those of you who have one, or two, or more of them, know what I'm talking about. They're more than just pets, they're closer to four legged children, and for good or bad, they are extremely smart. Sometimes I believe I love my Coton's more than my actual children.

Anyway, back to the doctors office parking lot; the guy is standing at the passenger rear corner of the car and I hear scratching sounds. I immediately leaped from the car and found this ahole scratching one of my magnet stickers on the back of the car. To put it bluntly, I went ballistic. It was all I could do to keep from hitting him.

There are four magnet stickers on the back of my car. All four are Coton de Tulear themed stickers. I've had them for three year and this is the second car they've been on. The one the ahole was scratching says, My Coton de Tulear is smarter than the president. I believe the president of the USA at the time I bought those stickers was Mr. Obama, not Mr. Trump, and quite frankly I never really gave it any thought as far as who the president is the sticker is referring to. It's not about any person, it's about the Coton de Tulear dogs.

Anyway, I screamed at this idiot so hard, he was shaking like an earthquake. I'm 5 foot 10 inches at around 255 pounds and he was probably close to 100 pounds lighter than me. I asked him his age, he said 66. I said you'd think by 66 he'd know the difference between malicious vandalism and minding his own business. I probably screamed at this guy for about five minutes. Not just because of the damage he was doing to the sticker, but the possibility he could slip and scratch the paint on my brand new, very expensive vehicle.

I'm friends with the doctor so I would have no problem finding this guy's name and address. Should I get the info and contact the police or just chalk it up to a total lack of common sense on the part of the, as Bugs Bunny would say, ultra maroon?!

I commented about your situation with the senior vandal already. I would like to comment / discuss your dogs. And of course mine. I was not familiar with the Coton de Tulear breed by name but have certainly seen them in dog shows. I am sure that virtually all dog owners if they truly care for their pet(s) feel their breed in the cutest and smartest of breeds. Pretty much like cameras, automobiles, favorite music, etc., only with dogs or cats and a few other domestic pets it is more like love as you would another person. And dog owners certainly have their preferences or a multitude of reasons. I had a cousin who breed, raised, and showed pedigree Rottweilers. I actually only found out about this a few years ago and sadly just before my cousin died prematurely. We lived in very different parts of the country L.A., CA vs Buffalo, NY. so we only got to see one another a very few times in our lives. She seemed to be one of my nicer relatives and we at one time I know we did share a like for the same type of music. Many of the relatives on that side of my family were not very nice. I'll let that rest.

Anyway, partly due to the Peanuts Cartoon character Snoopy, my wife was obsessed with Beagles. We are not particularly fond of tiny dogs, but they all need homes and should be treated with love and respect. A friend has a Corgi that was ill and my friend could not afford the medical bills, so a charity was set up for them and I contributed $50. The dog seems to be doing well now. Point being, Corgis would not be my dog of choice. I know Queen Elizabeth II and Jerry Brown keep Corgi dogs. My wife and I have really become obsessed with medium to large Scent and Sight Hounds. We first had three hound mixes, and currently have two good sized Hounds. We have a female American Foxhound (see my avatar), and a male hound whose breed(s) is not clear. He could be a Artois Hound, Treeing Walker Coonhound, Hamilton Hound, or a mixed hound of one or more of these and another breed of hound. He looks essentially like a giant 70 lb. Beagle. Large hounds, especially Foxhounds are extremely affectionate when kept as house pets. Pack dogs seem rather different in many temperaments. All pet American Foxhound owners seem to feel this way and claim their AFH it possibly too smart. Hound intelligence is somewhat different from that of other Groups or Breeds of dogs. They are not easily trained to do tricks or even obey commands. You have to really work with them as they are very independently minded, stubborn, and willful. They can get into unbelievable trouble around a home. Some Foxhounds and Coonhounds have been known to scale 7 foot tall fences! The first day we had our AFH I could tell she was intelligent. She would look at things and seemed to be thinking of how to do things and get things she wanted. She seems to be reasoning out plans. In our yard she thinks she is a beaver or engineer, she moves piles of bricks, concrete blocks, and wood around to look for Lizards and Mice. Not mine yet, but AFH have been know to move furniture around to climb over walls or get on shelving. She can easily jump on to our tables and counter tops. She opens food containers. Our boy is much less agile and is too bulky to climb and jump like our girl. But he is very food driven and between them have made many messes in out house and yard. He once got into a 36 pack of beer cans and bit into puncturing about 24 of them, leaving leaking cans all over our back yard. We had no idea what he was doing until he came into the house drunk. He was listing and falling over all over the living room. It took a while to get him to just rest and sleep it off. Hounds are so known for wanting to hunt and escape in some cases that many rescue organization are so picky that they will not adopt to anyone with a doggie door or even an un-fenced ranch! Having no perimeter fence or wall could be a problem with any dog. But I'm not sure how rural people handle it as I live in a city. Luckily our two seem to mutually care for us that I don't think they would try to run off from our yard. Our girl has gotten out or loose a few times and just comes to our front door. It sounds like I am giving all the reasons not to have a hound. Yes, you have to watch them, but Foxhounds seem to be the most affectionate dogs that could exist. They almost love you to death!

Given the current political climate and the number of whack-jobs out there who are armed, I think you were lucky that is all that happened. If it were me, for my safety, the security of my car and, most importantly, the safety of my dogs, I'd remove that magnet. Best not to goad those who may very well be looking for an excuse to commit a violent act.

Iโ€™m more inclined to go with the idea of this guy having some type of mental/emotional disorder. Iโ€™ll leave it to the reader to decide which one.
Just my 2 cents๐Ÿ˜Š

There was no indication of why he was doing this? And he stood there the whole time you were yelling at him?

I had someone come up to my condo and started tapping on all the windows. I asked him why he was doing that and he said he was looking for his daughter, I later found out from a relative that he was in a stage of dementia. They apologize and life went on as usual

That's the type of magnet an intelligent person would only put on their refrigerator. Otherwise there will eventually be vandalism, probably when nobody is around to stop it.

This is correct. They tend to have separation anxiety. This is why we have two of them, so they are never alone.

Well, this was certainly an interesting post. It seems that there was a person there out of control. It was you. My mother always said, "two wrongs don't make a right." So, what gives you the right to verbally assault this person. And why do you think that your Doctor would violate Federal Law to pander to your poor temper. If you wanted to do something, just take a picture of the guy and sign a complaint with the police for vandalism. Let them do their job. But you seem pretty arrogant, expensive dogs and expensive car? Well, either are attainable by many people here and in the world at large. So, what makes you better?
I would say, get a grip. Life is short and yours will be shorter with a bad temper, stress, high blood pressure and all the health risks that ensue for a bad temper.

Maybe you're seeing this more from a political point of view. The stickers were not making a political statement, they are all about my dogs. Also, I don't appreciate your insinuating I'm not an intelligent person. Maybe you are a Mr. Trump afficienado, I neither know or care because it is irrelevant to me. Those stickers have been on two vehicles for a period of three years. Who was the president of the USA three years ago? I'm not the one lacking intelligence here; it was the maroon who felt it was his right to destroy someone else's property, just because he wasn't smart enough to understand the message. It's not a political statement sticker, it's all about the dogs.

I would have given him a gentle tap on the butt with my 8 million volt taser. He would have spent the next week cleaning the crap out of his pants.

I can appreciate your emotions regarding your pets, but Judges don't like people wasting their time with trivial matters. In this case, the only "damage" you could seek to have reimbursed would be for the value of a depreciated, 3-year old magnet sticker--a few cents. I think the judge would have been very angry with you for frivously taking up time on his crowded docket.

I guess I'd expect a response like that from a Nikon owner. Oh wait, I'm a Nikon owner also. Could it also be that you to see this incident from a political perspective and you are a Trump supporter?!
As I've said, it has nothing to do with politics.
I guess if someone came up to your new vehicle and started scratching away with a pocket knife, you'd be ok with that!
What difference does it make how much my dogs cost. You have no idea how much my dogs cost me and how long I searched for a breeder that doesn't overcharge simply because of the breed or lineage. I have those specific dogs for a darn good reason and it has nothing to do with being better than anyone else.
Have you bought a new vehicle recently? Especially one capable of pulling a trailer? They're not cheap. It's not like I wrote a check for the whole amount. I've got payments to make, just like the average working class person does.
You, like the ahole with the pocket knife, just don't get it. I'd feel sorry for you but you're just not worth it.

Yeah, and you could learn how to spell "moron".
