Some neighborhoods in LA have an abundance of wildlife.

The LA Zoo is fun. I don't know about taking the Amtrak to LA but that could be fun with friends I suppose. I took it from Orange County to San Diego once. I thought the cost was going to be $21.50 but that was one way so I was bummed that it was actually $43 round trip. We missed the 4:00pm train back to the OC, and had to wait for the 5:45pm train. It was over an hour and a half late because of a suicide on the tracks up in central CA. I had friends with me so we still had a pretty good time at the SD Zoo and hanging out together at the train station, but it made for a very long day and could have been better if we made the earlier train back.
