Canon has released a firmware update for the EOS R. Version 1.3.0 You can download it here: https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/cameras/eos-dslr-and-mirrorless-cameras/mirrorless/eos-r?subtab=downloads-firmware For anyone not familiar the download contains a PDF file with complete instructions. I just did mine. Took about 5 minutes. Canon cautions you to do it with a fully charged battery. A very good idea. Just to be contrary I did mine with the battery at 85%. When I was done it was at 84%. Just the same, I strongly suggest you follow Canon's directions!
Shoot, you should have waited until you only had 14% battery power. That would have shown use your courage. LOL
I've done a number of firmware updates so I wasn't too concerned. Still, as I was doing it I was thinking to myself: Is this really a good idea? The answer is No, of course, but hey, you got to get your thrills where you can!
