Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. The water is very low now due to the drought over the last few years but the dam itself is amazing. My wife and I have been several times and we love all the old art deco furnishings within the dam. Something to see. The drive out is also scenic with a couple of stops along the way.

The ghost town is Nelson. if you go to the Hoover Dam, take the inside tour.

I don't know if you're referring to in Las Vegas, or in the area. Valley of Fire State Park is an hour away and has incredible rock formations. Very hot in the summer but may be ideal when you're there.

The desert mammal shots are stunning. Where were they taken? And what time of day, pls?

TY

Hello,

I did a searched on this topic and most of the posts were several years old.
We will be going to Las Vegas in late Oct and I am looking for, mostly, unique photography opportunities. Any and all thoughts of what to photograph will be appreciated.
Thanks to all.
Hope everyone has a great day!

And, DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAMERA INTO ANY CASINO'S. THEY ARE NOT PERMITTED.

Handheld, during the golden hour or later outside on the strip. During any special celebration, such as Christmas, the casinos will have elaborate displays both inside and out, for you to record.
Very few of the shows allow photography, except Terry Fator, and he will actually pose for folks. He has a great family-oriented show. https://www.vegas.com/shows/impersonators/terry-fator-las-vegas/?gclid=CjwKCAjwtO7qBRBQEiwAl5WC23I9qrd2Z0lET13Za0QTKsNMQIgPGpa2UHw2Ujxa6QxNXFqfdTRAOhoCJxoQAvD_BwE

Cameras: I have taken my camera (Canon 5DIV w/24-70mm) in and through most of the casinos on the strip and as long as I didn't take pics in the gaming areas nothing was ever said to me.

Smile,
Jimmy T Sends

Red Rock Canyon is another great photo op in the area (closer than Valley of Fire). Interesting rock formations.

Take a Pink Jeep Tour to Valley of Fire State Park. Fabulous rocks and thousands of years old petroglyphs. Ask about Newspaper Rock. There’s also a neon museum, can’t think what it’s called, where many of the old LV lights are. I didn’t know about it when we were there and would’ve loved to have gone. There are also Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam tours that go out of Las Vegas.

I've found nothing of any beauty or photographic interest in Las Vegas, but nearby Hoover Dam and Lake Meade are impressive.

Hello to all,
Thank you so so much for all of your ideas and tips. I may have to make a second trip back just to hit all the wonderful ideas that each of you took the time to share.
Have a great day!

There’s an "old town" part of the Strip that could yield some good street shots.

Red Rocks is great and really close. Mount Charleston is also very worthwhile, especially if you like to hike.

If you're into custom or race cars at all that weekend is HUGE! The NHRA is at the strip 10/31-11/3. Then Starting Tuesday 11/5 through 11/8 is the SEMA Show at the convention center. You have to be in the trade to get into the convention itself but the car show outside is free and will take the best part of a day to see everything. Also Fremont street on Halloween will be something to be a part of!
