Dream Cruise,
Tires will squeal, radios will blare “Little Deuce Coupe,” and for a few precious hours Saturday, Woodward Avenue in Oakland County will roll back the decades to the golden age of car cruising. The 25th edition of the WOODWARD DREAM CRUISE kicks off at 9 a.m. Saturday, and communities along its 15-mile route will welcome it with activities ranging from a massive display of Ford Mustangs along 9 Mile in Ferndale to a Saturday morning 5K run/walk in Royal Oak to a huge classic car show and live music along South Old Woodward in Birmingham. The area around 13 Mile and Woodward, usually a beehive of cruise activity, will be quieter than normal this year because the new Woodward Corners shopping complex isn't yet up and running.
9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, Woodward Avenue from Ferndale to Pontiac.woodwarddreamcruise.com.
Sounds good. I remember that little Metropolitan. I also remember the Crosley with the propeller on the front.
I live there, fun, memories of the 50's 60's, when I grew up, many, many very Cool Historical cars Cruising Woodward from Pontiac to Ferndale Michigan, really starts Cruising on Thursday thru Saturday night.
Wish I was there. I proudly drove my brother's 1957 Jaguar (XK-140MC) in the Cruise one year only to find out later that the event is intended to be for American cars. Apparently this concept was lost on the Detroit Free Press photographer as well as the Jag and its driver made the front page of the newspaper!
My "Dream Car" would be the first stick shift I ever drove, a 1969 "Roadrunner". My Older Brother's car when he came home from Vietnam.
Fun time. Went there about 8 years ago. Remember it well.
Drove out from central Pennsylvania 3 times about 10-15 years ago. Last time out found it terribly commercialized.
Few places to park for free, large number of places taped off for private parties. Really difficult to see everything ,everywhere. If you cruise you lose your parking place and you can't stop anywhere because there's no where to park .
BUT the cars were amazing ! Every kind of car you can imagine. We parked in front of a church within walking distance of Ferndale . Would still like to go again

I'll be there for the 25th year in a row. My Coupe DeVille.
Harry, being from Pontiac, many of my friends participate in the cruise. I was fortunate to grow up in Pontiac in the 50's and 60's when the best cars, esp. muscle cars were being made. The mustang, ofc, and the '67 GTO spring to mind. I was fortunate that my parents bought both a '57 Chevy and a '65 Chevy that was absolutely gorgeous (red). If I couldn't get the '65 on the weekend my fallback was the '57. Not too shabby. Woodward, too, was popular for "Woodwarding" as you probably know where kids would just cruise and connect.
Fotoartist....That's a beaut!!
Grew up in Dearborn but have lived in Cincinnati for 36 years. My buds have told me how great it is. On my hit list. Gearheads can check out the Detroit Free Press the next couple days or Google it for more amazing pics.

Yes, you are correct, "No-Parking" is a problem, especially if you want to sit outside at one of the many Great Restaurants along Woodward Ave Watch the Cars, Listen to the "Oldies" on a Radio, also to many "Non-Oldies" vehicles are hogging the space for the true 50 & 60's to show their stuff.

Just returned from the Dream Cruise. Saw a 1954 Kaiser with the doors tucked into the front fenders. Also saw a Figaro car. The new mid engine corvette was really nice. There were cars upon cars and the weather was great. A must see for all car enthusiasts.
