This looks like a pretty incredible "Walk around lens" in the RF mount.
RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM

Priced on the high end of non-L lenses but the range and capabilities seem very good.
It has Nano USM for those doing video and combined with DPAF, very smooth pro like AF, it looks to be quite versatile and focuses close for an "Econmy" lens as well.
$900.00 USD.

The price isn't too bad if it performs as expected.

The price point for this is still significantly above Tamron's competing options . Is anyone able to provide some understandable comparisons

Canon web site is your friend.
The comparison to Tamron is like comparing a Cadillac to a Ford Pinto.
Tamron lacks the items below among other major performance features.
Tamron does not even come close, especially note the control ring.

The RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM uses Canon's NANO USM system which combines conventional ring USM AF, and features a diminutive chip-shaped ultrasonic motor that's engineered to help deliver high-speed, smooth, precise and near-silent operation, plus full time manual focus (when using One-shot AF).

Helping to deliver a wide range of image stabilization correction, the RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM lens is the first Canon lens that features Dynamic IS for full-frame cameras**. The built-in Image Stabilization helps enhance performance, even in low-light situations, and is especially effective when recording videos.

The RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM lens incorporates a control/focus ring*** on the lens barrel that can directly adjust numerous settings including shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation and more. Located towards the end of the lens, the control/focus ring has a tactile, easily distinguished surface and provides tangible feedback for confident use while looking through the viewfinder. The RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM lens does not have the clicking mechanism as the previous RF lenses have, providing smooth focusing and exposure control while recording videos.

Designed to quickly process data, the RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM features a 12 pin communication system that is the fastest yet for a Canon lens/camera combination. This accelerates AF, Image Stabilization, the Digital Lens Optimizer and more, helping to simplify complex operations and provide a quick and reliable user experience.

While not a very fast lens, combined with the high ISO capabilities of the Canon mirrorless cameras, this should work well - it will be interesting to see how sharp it is at the extremes of focal length. If you get it, by all means put it through some tests and post the results for those of us who are wondering about the jump to mirrorless!

I have the RF 24-105 f/4 L IS on a EOS RP. Image quality is great. I was using the 24-70 f/4 L IS. I like the reach on the 24-105. What body will you be using it on?

I am waiting for the IBIS body so I can use all my FD, FL and R lenses with ibis then get them together.
The lens is on preorder from Canon at this time as my link points out.

They will sell a lot of these. I hope to invest in one of the R bodies in the near future. Everything indicates that the EF lenses work as well or better on the R bodies.
