HI,

I am thinking about purchasing a Sony RX100 VI:
Would appreciate some answers to the following:

1. What is meant by: MagnificationApprox. 0.59x with 50 mm lens at infinity, -1m-1(diopter) (35 mm equiv.) and is this important?

2. Has anyone used this camera or a previous one ie: RX10 V or IV?
If so what about image quality?

3. Can you make a print up to 16X 20 ?

Many thanks for your input.

Their still the best point & shoot cameras you can buy. 8X lens, 20 pixels, 24 fps continuous shooting, great image quality, all in a small package. Not sure about the magnification approx, 16 x 20 might be stretching it a bit, maybe not, depends on how detailed you want it to be.

I have an rx100 m3 and yes I've got very detailed landscape photos printed on metal at 16 x 24 and you would be hard pressed to tell whether it was taken with my full frame 43 megapixel camera or the rx100.

also the rx100 vii is announced and will be available in a week or so and it is the same price as the vi it has a better sensor and much faster autofocus shoots 20 frames per second and does excellent tracking of moving subjects and eye autofocus for people and pets. If I was buying I would get the vii or see if the vi goes down in price once the 7 is shipping.

1. Not important
2. I haven't used one, but those that own it love it. The menu system takes getting used to.
3. yes

1. I think the .59X refers to the electronic viewfinder, which shows 100% of the image at .59X magnification.
2. I own an RX10M4, and have used the RX100M5 - both excellent cameras.
3. I've made 24x36 and could see 40x60 not being a problem. Remember, Apple's iPhones make billboard-sized prints, and they aren't as good as the 1" Sony sensor.

I have the RX100 Mark 4. I have shot about 25,000 images with it. The image quality is really terrific. Buying one isn’t the issue. The question is which one. Frankly, I would love to sell my Mark 4 so I could buy the Mark 7.

First, the RX100 series and RX10 series are completely different camera's, not only in size but in features.
I have owned several RX100 camera's, and yes, a 16X20 CAN be sharp if the photographer knows what they are doing, in fact, I have several 20X30 prints that are very sharp.

Since purchasing my RX100vi, I have hardly used my full frame camera. Very convenient and surprisingly good picture quality.

I have the RX 100 VI. Great camera. As has been said on this forum before, “the best camera is the one you have with you when you want to take a picture”. I carry mine everywhere. My big camera is a Sony A7 Rii. Use the 100 more than the big camera. Thinking about the A7Riv. Menu system takes getting used.
