Good evening fellow Hoggers. I am having trouble with something. The something is editing. I'm a newbie to photography not to software. My problem is I can edit ANY photo to be perfect. By using focus stacking inserting objects from other photos cloning the list goes on. Is there somewhere that editing is limited or non existent. Are there enough people here who may have an interest in a area for unedited photos? I understand the line between lightly edited and IMHO created is a sticking point. That said how about ZERO EDITING. Just a thought from a person who has shot for a year and have been hell bent on taking great photos not making them. I hope no one thinks I'm bashing highly edited photos. They are amazingly beautiful. I just would rather be taking photographs instead of sitting in front of my computer. All opinions are respected. Let's hear from everyone. Thank you all for all the information you all post and especially the photos. Thanks again Bob

To thine own self be true. Unless you are in a studio setting with a lighting expert you will need to edit — it's part of photography just like the darkroom from the film days. Be grateful for your skill and you might actually enjoy it.

There is no line definable between eddited and non eddited!... “Just a little bit pregnant” comes in my mind.

That is my main issue with editing - if someone takes a photo with editing in mind, he may not put his full effort into the original photo....

But what if someone does put a full effort into the original photo while at the same time considering editing? What if someone does that because he/she is fully aware of the limitations of the camera software and recognizes that instead of letting the chips fall because the camera software is incapable he/she can instead make the effort to do better and surpass the limits of the camera software? Explain to me why I can't do that.

If I can do that then I can take photos and be more faithful to the original scene than the limited software that creates the camera JPEG.

I now understand why the world is the way it is. Thank you all you folks who somehow decided my post said I was against editing. I was looking to see if anyone had an interest in posting unedited photos so we could possibly exchange tips or advice on taking better photos. I believe I even complimented editing. So thank you all. Here are a couple of unedited NEF files for everyone to argue about. lol

Ha, ha...you stir the pot and now you're leaving us?

Just kidding! Actually your post and the 24 pages of responses offer an interesting case study of human response to questions. The vast majority of posts didn't even come close to addressing the issue you raised. And as soon as someone left the track the lemmings followed....😁

You can do anything you want and get the result you want. But not everyone has to want what you want or do things your way.

As for raw vs. JPEG SOOC, you can be sloppier with your exposure and WB when shooting raw. You have to know more and be more careful when shooting JPEG (or TIFF) SOOC.

That is a good point....The OP's title suggested an interest in a totally different kind of discussion from what the body of the post addressed. Mixed signals.

As Yogi Berra said "When you come to a fork in the road, take it"

Of course, and I never said otherwise. In fact I basically said that so thanks but no need to remind of what I said.

Then maybe you have no more to say. That would be a relief to us all.
