I bought this camera when it came out. Have not purchased another since. It replaces a D50 that I still have (and use if I am worried about the weather and the D7000).
My D50 (prior to the D7000) is still my backup for the D7100.

I purchased a D7000 set up for full spectrum (IR/VL/UV). It works great - all my collection of Nikkor lenses work on it, lens c. 1969-2019 Ais converted where needed. It’s lightweight (compared to a D850) and smaller. I bought it used.

I bought my D7000 used from mpb. It had 5k clicks. I love it! I also bought the 18-55 DX ED VRII and the 35 1.8. No complaints whatsoever. Look up my name for my waterfall series here on uhh. It’s no backup-it’s my go to.

D7000 is a workhorse I can trust. I still have my, battery life is better vs my 810. It’s user friendly camera

I have been using a D7000 for years. It's capable of doing more than I use it for. Oddly I have a chance to pick up a used D7000 for $200 as well. Do you by chance know Jim Livingston too? He had two, and I though $200 for a backup was reasonable

I have a chance to buy a D7000 in good operating condition...approx. 30k shutter clicks. Seller asking $200.
I would use as backup body.

Would like to hear from present (and past) users if D7000 is still a viable camera or if it's "over the hill".

You might want to checkout Cameta Camera. They sell for very good prices and offer a 1-year warranty on their used cameras.

If you haven't already bought the camera, I would recommend against it. The D7000 has a manufacturing defect. The shutters are all bad and subject to catastrophic failure that usually destroys the low pass filter in front of the image sensor when they fail. I've seen dozens of these and no longer repair them. Neither does Nikon.

Just wanted to corroborate Rick J Riggins inference here, albeit I believe this issue is not as ubiquitous as Rick claims otherwise it would have surfaced on all the major forums which seem to relish bad mouthing product flaws.

Case in point... I purchased my refurbished Nikon D7000 directly from Nikon USA... What I found surprising was the initial shutter count (activation number) was only several dozen activations... Thus I assumed that Nikon had replaced the shutter... This refurbished D7000 has preformed flawlessly over many years of use and thousands of shutter activations....

I checked with https://phototech.com/ and they indeed service the Nikon D7000... Phototech has been in camera repair for over 50 years and is well known for servicing Nikkor lens... btw for the longest time they were located next to B&H and only recently moved to 360 W 36th St, New York, NY 10018. Call them at (212) 673-8400. They will share their thoughts on the Nikon D7000.

Ok, does Nikon have issues with quality control? Think no further than the oil slinging D600 which they quickly replaced with the D610... Yep, even the top vendors have issues now and again...

Hope this helps or is at least food for thought...
btw, I still carry the D7000 in a small fanny pack with the AF-S 18-55mm VR...
It's nimble and works well for me...
Same image size as a D4 & D4s...

Thx to all for your insight. Unfortunately thru too much procrastination on my part someone beat me to the punch and purchased the camera. If anyone has or knows of a good, clean D7000 body for sale please let me know by PM.
