Go to South shore and buy a ticket for the tram to the top of the mountain. Same as they use for skiing in the winter. Spectacular view of the entire lake.
Take money.......also a camera.

The Tahoe Shakespeare Festival at Sand Harbor on the East Shore is great.
I would definitely recommend Fallen Leaf Lake, a small lake immediately adjacent to Tahoe. Beautiful.
The Tallac state park on the west side of the lake near south lake Tahoe has interesting homes to visit.
The Tallac state park on the west side of the lake near South Lake Tahoe has old homes that are fun to visit. They have a Great Gatsby festival which is fun. Also, check out the entertainment at the Boat House at Tallac. We liked the walk from the ranger station to the Tallac buildings. There is a visitor center in South Lake Tahoe that is worth visiting to find out what is going on in the area.
But don’t eat at the snackbar

I live in Reno, so.
Lake Tahoe the lake, South Lake Tahoe the city, Heavenly Valley ski resort with tram, Tahoe City, Kings Beach (Old Wooden Boat show) Truckee, Squall Valley with tram, Reno, Sparks (lots going on in August and September), Rib Cookoff over Labor Day, Virginia City, Carson City (Nevada state capital). As you can see you could spend two weeks here and not see everything. Your camera will get a REAL workout.

Me riding the Flume trail two weeks ago representing the 70+ crowd. Spectacular views, unfortunately I only had my cell phone and just took a few snaps. It would be a great day hike from the Spooner Lake parking lot. Can be a bit narrow if one doesn’t care for rim trails.
Since moving to Nevada from Arkansas we frequent Lake Tahoe often. It's one of the most beautiful regions and lake in the world. Pristine, scenic, clear waters and nature abounds in and around the lake.
It is a "must see experience" if one hasn't been privy to the lovely lake.
Wecurrently have hot August nights going on which will be every weekend through the end of August, Street vibrations is in September don't remember the exact date but I believe it is the middle of September, the air races are coming to Reno, the balloon races are coming to Reno, the camel races are coming to Virginia City, the outhouse races I believe are coming to Virginia City there are a ton of museums there's an antique car museum here in Reno there are Discovery museum's there's a lot going on in this area oh, by the way we moved from Oklahoma three-and-a-half years ago and now live here full-time and love this area. There also is a ton of stuff to photograph around lake Tahoe
Just got back from trip to lake Tahoe. Still snow on the mountains. Lake is absolutely full to the brim with water runoff from th mountains. Very few b eaches left though I can recomend a little beach snack far on yhe Lake down from the "Heavenly" Ski lift. Good views of the Lake with cold drinks and shade from the sun. Was 90 deg when I was there.
California side looks like a dump compared to the Neavada side
I visit here often...I live a little over an hour away. My #1 "favorite spot" for photo shoots is Sand Harbor...located on the Northeast / Nevada side...about 5 miles south of Incline Village. Early morning or sunset for iconic photos!
As stated in the other posts...the entire Tahoe Lake area has tons of offerings...not to mention the sheer beauty!! Enjoy your visit!
Here are a couple recent (snow) images from earlier this year.
