Famous quotes of Ansel Adams...

"There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs."

"I am sure the next step will be the electronic image, and I hope I will live to see it. I trust that the creative eye will continue to function, whatever technological innovations may develop."

"Photography is more than a medium for factual communication of ideas. It is a creative art!"

And my FAVORITE..."You don't 'take' a photograph...you 'make' it!"

I usually never question if a photo depicts reality or not, I simply look at a photo and either like it or not.
If I like it, I'll probably look at the elements in the image. If I don't care for it, I'll move on.
For me they stand, or fall, on their own merit. I don't care if someone beefed up or toned down the saturation, contrast, or highlights in a sunset, who am I to say it was not REALLY how it looked. Only the photographer knows that, and I don't care. I'm looking at the attractiveness of the image, not whether it was real. Not if it looks like it might not be real, I might wonder, but I'll still look at the image, its content, and arrangement.

I do not feel that changing the processing steps in your camera or on your computer that affect the color balance, tonality, brightness, contrast, etc., to be editing.

So you also disagree with jcboy3 who says; "But, in my opinion, if you are making manual adjustment to the file then you are editing. There are global adjustment you can make, such as white balance, exposure, contrast, sharpening, noise reduction. These are edits." That was my point.

In fact there are two important differences between the two:

(1) the computer software is more capable, but it does things that shouldn't be done while maintaining veracity of the image

Such as. Please list those things the computer software does that shouldn't be done.

Why don't you simply speak for yourself? Can't you articulate your own ideas without quoting someone else?

How about this:
Processing is global in definition, in as much as there are many types of processes, which are performing a series of actions.
Editing is simply one type of process.
Therefore editing and processing are synonymous.

Then don’t ask me about what anyone else said. Stick to what you said.

Yes, you did: https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-604851-19.html#10399825 Remember now?

If you want to ask me about something you believe, state it clearly in your own words.

This is not an argument that anyone needs to win. We just have a difference of opinion.
