Actually I was born and raised in California. I grew up and still reside in San Diego.
We (my wife & I) have a house in Borrego Springs which is surrounded by one of the largest State Parks in the contiguous 48 states. The Anza Borrego Desert State Park is true desert:

I look forward to seeing the images that others share.
Welcome! Be sure and check out the Landscape section. There are lots of other section that you might enjoy as well. You will find a list at the bottom of your home page.
Welcome. We look forward to photos of scenery, wildlife, and the amazing explosion of flowers when there's some rain in the winter. We live in San Diego and most years we get out to Borrego in the spring.
Weirdly, hiking Borrego in the spring feels to me like walking on the bottom of a huge tropical aquarium. Instead of colorful fish and sea plants, Borrego in the spring has a gazillion birds and insects and colorful blooming cacti, ocotillo, annual flowers, and palms, flowering trees, and bushes below and in the canyons. The sweet smelling air is alive with song and buzzing...it's magic if you get away from the crowds.
PS. To all, leave your dogs at home. The desert is not dog friendly...everything in the desert is spiny or can bite or sting.
Welcome to the forum. Look forward to your desert pictures.
Welcome to the Hog, enjoy.
