Scary PS CS6 feature

While playing with the new features in Photoshop CS6 I discovered a wonderful tool called "Content Aware Move". It will allow some great adjustments to items within an image and will be a wonderful tool to use on older pics that you just couldn't correct properly. But in playing with it I discovered a potentially disturbing feature.
Watermarks are no longer safe! With this tool you can download someones image and simply remove the watermark by moving it to an unobtrusive area of the image, and removing it with a clone tool or cropping. Its scary to think all a thief has to do now to secure a stolen image is easily remove a watermark and/or add their own. Image security has a new enemy in the one tool that we all long for to secure our work. Or so it would seem.

Could a person worrying about photo theft only post an image at a very much lower resolution ? 600 or 800 ?

Thanks for the notice MT. The content aware feature upgrade was one of the major selling points for CS6. Don't know how you could have missed it, though.
If you make the watermark across the whole image does CS6 still make it easy to eliminate it? I don't have it yet, but my son's college graphics class uses it. I will get the whole Adobe suite for him this semester for under $400.00 with his educational discount. I will probably get the nik software suite for $149.00 while I am ordering the other.

I may be mistaken and forgive me if I am, but couldn't you also do this in CS5 using content aware fill. I started with CS4 then went to CS5 and now I am on CS6.

Personally, I detest watermarks and think it is a very poor marketer who would use one, particularly one that obliterates the center of the image. 600 x 400 or 800 x 600 does the trick. A small sig and copyright symbol discretely placed in a lower corner is OK.

I think I found work-around this problem for the people who are really concerned. It would take substantial cloning and content aware to alter this one. What do you think? :lol: :-D
I think it solves anyone's desire to want the image.

I have always found putting a watermark on a complicated location to clone out was a good way to keep anyone from removing it without detection most of the time.
I just got CS 6 this week, and the Content Aware Move was one of the reasons I wanted it, but it didn't take long to discover that it was super easy to take the watermark from that complicated location, move it to a simpler spot, say a clear blue sky, and then clone it out and leave no sign it was ever there. It took me a whole 30 minutes to figure that one out after registering the software. Powerful tool, maybe TOO pwerful in the wrong hands. Just wanted to make everyone aware of the feature is all.

I use watermarks but to be honest they are useless against anyone that knows anything about PP. Almost any PP program can be used to remove them.
If someone wants to steal one of your photos you don't have a chance, not a thing you can do to stop it.

I thought watermarks were always pretty easy to remove. You're saying it's even easier now? Of course "easy" means you have to be proficient with Photoshop. :D
