It was a joke

Oh, I got your joke! I was, in my own sick way, agreeing with it. PCs will be around for a while.

There have been many here who pooh-poohed mirrorless as a fad. That's been the case since 2008...

I think they finally see the writing on the wall. dSLRs AND mirrorless will be around for a while, until the manufacturers can only afford to build one type.

A lot of the time I am the only one who gets my jokes. Have a nice day.

I second this recommendation for the Canon 80D. It will take you quite a while to outgrow the camera.

Third! But the 77D or even T7i are pretty good, too. I still haven't "outgrown" my T2i, although the 80D makes life easier and can, in a very few instances, get a shot the T2i can't.

Mirrorless cameras have been around longer than DSLR'S. I don't understand why mirrorless has become synonymous with MILC'S. People use DSLR all the time, why can't they also use MILC instead of mirrorless. A mirrorless camera is simply a camera without a mirror. My point and shoots and bridge cameras are all mirrorless cameras. My interchangeable lens cameras without a pentaprism, or pentamirror, and reflex mirror are MILC'S.
The manufacturers will continue to develop and manufacture DSLR'S as long as there is a profitable market for them.
The folks who pooh-poohed mirrorless as a fad apparently don't understand the evolution of technology.
And why must there always be this endless MILC vs DSLR argument?! They're just cameras!

It's the nature of people, not just photographers.
People have a supreme need to make their opinion known.
I include myself in that group.

If we didn't have our opinions we'd be a pretty boring lot. What's the old saying, opinions are like fingerprints; everyone has them and they are all different.

To paraphrase George Orwell (Animal Farm)
Everyone is different
But some people are more different.

Mirrorless cameras have been around longer than DS... (show quote)

Mirrorless is often used as an abbreviation of the phrase mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. Yes, even smartphones are mirrorless, as are rangefinders and some other types.

Every camera is designed to appeal to a certain market niche. There’s something for everyone.

Yes, I understand this, all too well. My point was, is, or whatever; people all use the abbreviation DSLR which is 4 letters. They don't say digital because not all digital cameras are DSLR'S. MILC is also 4 letters but way too many people refer to MILC'S as mirrorless. All digital cameras that don't have a mirror are mirrorless. Any camera that doesn't have a mirror is mirrorless. MILC'S are digital interchangeable lens cameras that don't have a mirror. How simple is that?!

Quite. But the use of ‘mirrorless’ is deliberate... It ignores the fact that “lesser” types exist, in order to set MILCs as the standard. Marketing usage...
