I bought a Nikon grip for myD300s. It's machined from solid magnesiun and it;s built like a tank just like the camera. You get what you pay for... if you're lucky.

I bought a Zeikos 'Professional multi-power Battery Pack' thru Amazon for a D700 (will fit D300 and D300s also). No problems. It appears to be very well constructed. I don't remember exactly what I paid - around $60 I think.

That's a good price with very good reviews. Amazon has one for the D7000, too, just $41.02.

The commonly seen problems seen on third party grip/battery combos is slower AF action.

If the speed of your autofocus is not an issue throughout your inventory of lenses... I'd jump at those prices.

Heaven knows that anybody out there ought to be able to match the quality and performance of the OEM manufacturer of your camera bits and lenses and reduce the price as well. :XD:

I'm normally a Nikon brand user however the price of the Nikon grip for the D800 is horrible. I have purchased a Meike grip from Amazon and so far no problems. It's $57.00. And if I have to buy one every year, I can go many years before it becomes more expensive than the Nikon. By then the D800 will be outdated and probably replaced.

I just purchased one of those grips for my D800. The name on it is Phottix
. Its made in China & you would have to guess whether it was Nikon or not. I like it , it fits well & works. It holds one EN-15 & has a holder for 8 AA Batteries.

The only problem with the Nikon grip is the price. Will the Nikon grip last longer than the China imitation...probably. To me it's not worth the price difference to the Nikon.

Noticed in one of my photo magazines a distributor company called Omega Brandess. Among other items, the D-800 and Canon Mk 3 as well as other camera models battery grips were advertised. The D-800 and Canon MK 3 grip was $129.99, D-7000, $92.95, D-200, $136.95 (premium series). The ad states two EN-EL type batteries, with vertical buttons like the Nikon/Canon grips have. Nikon's vertical D-800 grip is $450.00. Any suggestions as to quality, and performance with these grips?

Hi Jamers,

I just purchased a off brand Flashpoint battery grip from Adorama Cameras in New York. I have used it for 3 photoshoots without any problems. It was a lot cheaper than the Nikon. The Flashpoint grip is mostly plastic while the Nikon is made out of magnesium alloy. I believed I paid approximately $100.00 for the Flashpoint battery grip.

A always look on Ebay for "like new" and always find one. I bought the grip for my Canon 5DMkII for $169.00 and the one for my 7D for $150.00, new they are almost $400.00 for either one. For a little more money I would prefer the original OEM accessory.

I tried 3 different grips for my D7000. Not one of them worked properly or not at all. Seems they were all made by the same manufacturer under different brand names. I bit the bullet and bought Nikon grip-- no comparison. You get what you pay for.
