Second Installment- Vermilion Cliffs National Monument: Cottonwood Cove- First Light
Please download for proper color and detail
We had arisen from our sleeping bags in the 15F degree darkness and had hiked about a mile and a half in the dark, but gradually lightening skies on a very rough, lumpy frozen sand trail. We were rewarded for our efforts by the first image.
The sun's rays had not quite arisen over the horizon, but they had lit the sky and the mountains with their glow in the first image. The second was shortly after sunrise.
OH So nice Greymule.......love your style and the early sunrise on these rocks......luscious looking spaces.

Two excellent captures, the colours and light are so beautiful.
Love the second picture...it is all about timing and luck
Really nice in the downloads.
Very fine Shots, grey mule! And you know how much I like water in the desert. I can see the ice on the pool which makes it even better!

Got there before the sun could melt it.
Outstanding pair of images. Both are great, but I am especially fond of the color and reflections in the second.

On one of my Green River canoe trips in S.E. Utah we went in early March. There was ice on the water in the mornings wherever there was no current. I liked it, no skeeters. And I handle cold way better than heat. That was our best of several trips.
Greymule .., you have shown repeatedly a considerable effort to get the shots you post ., I for one applaud your efforts ., and am a fan of your shots .. , thnx ..
