Version C; much more informative
I like the tight shot. It conveys the action and the surfer. Love the water droplets.

Full shot - shows the full scope of the action and challenge.

That's a very colorful and dynamic image, and I'm glad you put it up.
The cropping choice is an interesting question; I looked at the three versions, but kept coming back to a tighter crop but with more space for the wave on the left and bottom. Here is my 11X14 crop on it.
Bet that was fun to shoot. Were you on the shore or out in the water with him?

A really good shot!
If your original allows, I would crop it wider with the person to the right with more of the wave leading the eye to him. I suggest lowering the amount of sharpening to leasen the white blowout/sparkle on water drops.
Unless the surfer is someone important to you. Then the close crop draws the eye to his face. The over-sharp problem still distracts
I like the full image. I like action shots to show where the action is heading instead of too close. Most excellent shots.
Crop to put as much space as possible in front of the moving subject. Get it OUT OF DEAD CENTER!
Brent, it would depend on the use of the final image. If you're wanting to show details of the surfer, obviously the closer crop the better. But if you're wanting an excellent image of the full experience of surfing, then the full frame is best.
Personally, I like the full frame with the generous upsweep of water.
I like the full image as it shows the height of the wave which adds more drama.
Nice photo. 👍

They're all great...however...I liked the last one because it showed the height of the wave he was riding!!
This crop creates nice leading lines moving your eye to action and the surfer. 👍

Brent, I like all three versions and the selection could depend on the itended use. #3 gives the best feel for the setting, the height of the waves, while still showcasing the surfer. I prefer the drama of #3.
I like the tighter crop, A. But I would move the crop a bit. I like Marshals crop idea.

Brent, I am partial to number one and two is a close second.
