Nikon and Canon rumors indicate new cameras later this year - you may later regret switching.
One opinion does not a consensus make.
However if it denigrates Canon or Nikon, it does make gwilliams6 a happy man.

One and maybe both of those upcoming Nikon cameras will be using a Sony sensor so yes there may be some similarities. Sony has been selling Nikon their sensors for a long time. But just having the same sensor won't give Nikon the Sony tech in autofocus and other areas. Canon lags behind in sensor tech and has paid the price. Canon's EOS R and RP are NOT selling, check out the CIPA numbers. Canon will have a bigger hill to climb to match the newest Sonys and the upcoming Nikon. And don't forget Sony has two other major fullframe mirrorless camera releases coming summer and fall, a new A9II and a new A7SIII wth rumored specs to be incredible.

No I don't ever denigrate Nikon and Canon. I used pro Nikon and Canon gear both for 40 years. I wish Nikon and Canon all success and hope they create the best gear they can. Good competition is best, keeps them all innovating. We all win. I also love what Fuji and Panasonic have been creating with their gear. Cheers and use whatever brand you love.

Read online all the various reviews for this camera, the consensus of the experts is this camera is super. Just accept the reality if you can. Cheers

A bit touchy this morning?
I didn't say you denigrated Canon or Nikon.
Only alluded to the impression that you seem to happy to post links that boost Sony at the expense of them.
I went back and forth with Mr. Williams on more than one occasion. It typically was not about the message, but his shotgun delivery. In recent months he has traded the shotgun for a single shot approach.
As a long term Nikon user, an amateur, I have no intentions of switching. I also have no intentions of trading my 360hp Jeep for the 700hp version, even though the latter can outperform mine.
I feel the same about cameras. My two newest cameras are the D850 and the Z6. While I believe the D850 is one of the best DSLRs on the market, the Z6 doesn't measure up to Sony's offering. Neither does the Z7. While I'm in no way lusting for a Sony, I think their advances in photo technology should be applauded. I look at it this way, if it wasn't for Sony, Nikon never would have built me a Z6.
Happy shooting everybody.

I absolutely agree with your comments, were I just starting out Sony would most likely get my dollars.
My comment was an attempt to make light of Mr. Williams's narrow field of view as he only posts links that boost Sony. Any good reviews about the other players he greets with silence.
I could care less folks if you switch brands, use what you like and be happy . Maybe you don't follow me close enough as I post/and or comment often about other brands also. I just guessed you missed that in your one-track brand mindsets. I will continue to post about current trends and releases. If you have an issue with my posts, simply don't bother to read them or comment on them. What would be the point. If you remain happy and secure in your own worlds, oblivious to the reality of the amazing innovations and advancements and technology of today, then don't even bother commenting on anything outside your realm or comfort zone. At least this longtime reviewer and Nikon user is open to trying something new and not afraid of giving it his honest approval. Cheers

I sort of "get" both sides of these viewpoints. But, here is another view. How many of us buy specifications? I mean, if our current camera, whatever the brand, gives us the results we want, how will improving the specs to the latest and greatest improve our lives. I now have a Sony a7m3, and am looking at pictures on my walls, usually in at least 11x17 from a d700, d800, d810, and a7m3. I can't tell by looking which one came from which camera. So, what did all the improved specs get me from my d700, besides a depleted wallet!
