Here are a couple of things I got for my D500. If you get a D500, you might look at these. The eyecup helps to eliminate stray light coming in from the side that can cause glare on the eyepiece. It also creates a little more space between the LCD screen and the photographer's face. It takes a bit of work to get it on. You have to use the threaded core from the original eyepiece and mount the eyecup and retaining ring on it.

If you get this be sure to close the eyepiece shutter on the camera when you're working on it. Closing the eyepiece shutter will prevent dust from getting into the pentaprism area.

The deluxe hot shoe cover is a two-piece construction. The large rubber top portion completely covers the hot shoe. That's good if you're caught the the rain. It will prevent rain from getting on the electrical contacts and possibly seeping in past the contacts..

Thanks, CO, will the eye cup work with eye glasses?

Yes, the description on the B & H photo website says that it's ideal for eyeglass users.

I own and use the D7100, D500, and D7500 (also D750). Under most conditions the photos taken by the three DX cameras are essentially indistinguishable. The D500 is overkill for most DX photographers. The super-duper autofocus system really shines for team sports photography. If you don't do that I would go with the 5 or 6 ounce lighter D7500. The D7500 has the most important "pro" feature, the ISO button right on top. And it has U1U2, a much more user friendly memory bank system than Nikon's "pro" one, and an on camera flash, the latter an important feature for general photography the D500 lacks. If low light is important to you, you need a full frame camera, not DX. Even the D500 has way more noise at moderately high ISO than my D750.

So, I am thinking about upgrading to a better quality Nikon DSLR, however, I own several DX lenses that I am not willing to give up using on the new one. Please recommend an upgrade from a D7100 that will accept DX lenses…………thanks!

As rmorrison states, if you stay w/Nikon DX & are upgrading from your D7100, you may select either the D7200, D7500, & D500.

Do you use & wish to retain a pop up flash as your D7100 has? The D7200 & D7500 have pop up flashes while the D500 does not.

Do you want two card slots as your D7100 has? The D7200 & D500 have them but the D7500 does not.

My favorite of the three is the D7200 & is what I would buy today - if I had GAS, that is.
