We look back in Wonder, awed by the genius of the ancients. How they transported these mighty, multi-ton markers from the Cadillac quarries of Wales to the plains of Texas, to mark the passage of the sun, the moon, and the stars. How they'd hold their pagan rituals, offering up their Big Gulps and Cheetos bags to the deities of the past, and the CEO's of a future unknown to them, all to assure that the World would continue, and harmony amongst all people would reign.

Though of a different time and place and sentiment, I'm reminded of these words by Shelley:

My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
