Sounds like a great job. I spent many happy childhood summers running around shirtless with my body smeared with their glowing tails.

I'm lucky. I live in the country woods on a hill top in Pennsylvania. It's a low key, silent fire works display every summer night. They compete with the stars in the night sky.

The daughter and I used to catch many of these little fellows. One night they escaped from the jar and were all over the house. The point here is, not too many years ago my daughter and I were chatting about that night. I told her why the insects really lighted up. She said, oh dad, thanks a lot, you ruined one of my childhood fond memories. Oh well so much for science.
