For me it takes awhile before advice and suggestions sink in. TN has talked about this for awhile. In the past I have mentioned that multiple shots at high frame rates made processing an almost static subject more time consuming since most if not all are in focus and not much different.

I have been experimenting with lower shutter speeds and high frame rates. Not all are sharp especially with birds because they tend to move their heads a lot, but enough are so I can pick what I like and discard the rest. This provides the opportunity to increase the DOF or lower the ISO. Both can be a significant improvement in image quality over the conventional method.

Its too early to know what my acceptable limit is but I will work that out. The Downy Woodpecker was shot at 1/200s which is 1-1/2 stops lower than I would normally use.

And if you are a TN hater save your comments for your own posts.
