no matter which tripod you buy, make sure it is solidly held in place, particularly out in the field doing landscapes. Get some cheap sandbags you can wrap around the legs, or get one of these;

Remember, a good tripod is your sharpest lens.

Induro makes great carbon fiber ones at a reasonable price.

Hello,Hoggers! I am looking for advice on buying tripods. I like macro and landscape photography.I have a table-top tripod for indoor macro,and not any decent regular size tripod. My price limit is $300.00.Less is better,of course😝.Also,I am not a fan of plastic parts.Any advice would be appreciated.TIA

Benro is a very good manufacture of carbon fiber tripods for under $300.00 dollars. See below.

IMHO, your budget is not enough to purchase a good tripod, one that will hold your camera steady for the shot. If you buy an inexpensive one, you will be buying a better one later, the same mistake I made. Read about tripods on the Really Right Stuff site and call Carter at Camera Cottage first. Best of luck.

Have a Bogen (not carbon fiber), with Manfrotto ball head. A little heavy, but works great for me with Nikon series zoom lens & p900.

Six years ago I purchased a Ravelli APGL4 Professional 70” Tripod from Amazon for under $100. A search for that tripod reveals an updated one that is under $70 with reviews that rate it as 91% four or five stars. It is heavy, around seven pounds but solid, stable, and very versatile. I love mine and highly recommend it to others.

Carbon Fiber
Lightweight (2.5 lbs.) and will fold to 12 inches
Great for Landscape

Not the end of the world -IF- indeed it happens - If you buy a popular tripod to begin with you can always resell/recoup something - it is actually all part of the "cost/experience" of doing photography .....

Not, the ultimate SHAME it is made out to be here on UHH ....

I recently purchased an aluminum tripod heavy duty construction. One leg unscrews for use as a monopod. It has a hook to weigh it down. It took some wear and tear on a trip to Barcelona. It fit into my luggage and only cost under $150.
As for plastic I understand what you mean. I'm not a fan of something that could blow over in the wind.
I would like to recommend it to you but I don't advertise here. I'm not getting any royalties from the manufacturer. You could private message me for more information.

Yes, please remember when your out for that hike with your gear in a back pack and your tripod strapped to it. Oh, yes, you also need to take your rocks with you. A five gallon bucket should do the trick to carry it to your shooting location.
