Yep! And yes he does look a little under the weather..feathers not right on the neck and head...We have large numbers here (Southwestern Ontario) ...way too many! LOL... We have to discourage them from coming (with the dang European Starlings) to our feeders....A water gun helps a lot,is entertaining and keeps my husband active!

Know what you mean
We get grackles with our blackbirds

It is a newcomer to our birdfeeder.

It is a redwing blackbird. Not a tri-colored, a tri-colored has white where the yellow is on a redwing.

The white on his head looks to me like pin feathers. He went threw a molt and he is growing in new feathers. The pin feathers around the head and eyes are usually the last and the hardest for a solitary bird to get rid of. Mutual preening between birds helps to get rid of these. That or a couple of really good baths!

This is a Red-Winged Blackbird in the molting stage. Tri-Colored are usually only seen on the west coast.

A lot of birds look a little ratty when they're molting. The ones here are molting now. Not sure about when that happens in other areas.
