For my most recent backpack bag I went to Amazon Basics. I have been extremely pleased with it and found it to be of exceptional quality.
Tamrac 787 I have one on eBay
https://www.ebay.com/itm/192968156181. Take a look. If you're interested you can have it for the opening bid plus shipping. Let me know and I'll end the auction. It's a great bag but I never used it for it's intended purpose. It never left the house, was just a storage bag for me.

I'm not sure how it goes for printers and such, but as far as bags, lenses, camera bodies, etc. most of those are regulated to where you are going to pay the same price for them no matter where you purchase them from. It's just the fact that a larger retailer or chain type camera shop will make more money on them because they were able to purchase a bigger quantity from the manufacturer and get a discount. So then they sell to you at the regulated price and make more or less money that way. I bought a Manfrotto camera bag a month or two ago and it was the same to purchase it directly from the Manfrotto site as it was to shop at my local camera store. I bought a lens from B&H I'd been wanting for a while and it was on sale for $100 off at the time. Well it was also $100 less than my local store. B&H however, was throwing in the TAP-in console to go with it and a clear filter. I wouldn't have gotten those things by buying local. My local store definitely isn't as big as B&H so they can't afford to just throw in nearly $100 in extras like that. Now camera batteries, that's not something I will shop from at my local store again. I paid $20 more for a third party camera than I would have to get a genuine Nikon brand one directly from them. But lesson learned.
Anyway. Just do a search of camera bags and see what you think might meet your needs and then go to the store to try one out. Check the price online from the retailer and if you end up going to your local store and find out it's more expensive, just ask them why. If you don't like it, well, you've been able to try the bag out there to see if it meets you needs and then you can always go back home and order it from the retailer for less money.

Just checked one specific bag re: your comment - yep, same price (MindShift Gear BackLight 26L). More than I really wanted to pay, but certainly looks like it would hold everything I have. I will go see one in person soon (probably this afternoon). It's about a paycheck, but, hey, my new bazooka (150-600) was more than a month's worth! I might even bring all my stuff with me to see how much room it really has...maybe I don't even need that big of one.

I recently bought a new megazoom lens and now I need a new case as my old soft-sided lunchbox no longer fits everything. Thinking about a ThinkTank Streetwalker from Best Buy, but have not yet seen anything in person. My thought was to make cardboard cutouts of my body and lenses and see what fits. I'll probably have to carry some stuff separately (flash, filters, etc). I have a Sony a77, a 150-600g2, a 105 macro, 70-300 and a 17-50. I also have a tripod and footed monopod. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Consider ThinkTank Airport Commuter. It will hold all your gear and more.

Intriguing. Where you have the one body and lens on it side across the bag, how wide is it? My a77 w/ 150-600 attached is 13 1/2" long. Can the partitions be rearranged? Is there a spot to attach a tripod on the side or back?

Check out the Altura Great Explorer back pack sold by Digital Goja. They have a video on YouTube for it. Just got one for Father's Day fom my kids and I love it. Here is the link

I love my Lowepro bags:
https://www.lowepro.com/us-en/ ... as they are designed for camera users with plenty of padding and extra areas for water bottles etc. I have the sling bag for running around town and one of the back packs for when I travel. The sling bag is going with me on a river cruise and it holds my camera plus there lenses (17-55, 70-300 and 50 prime) plus lens hoods, batteries flash and STILL has extra room for water bottle (pocket on the outside). I also have the Lowepro Hatchback 250 AW II - it had plenty of room for my MacBook Pro and all my camera gear and then some. You can buy them on Amazon but check them out on Lowepro's website as they do a great job of explaining the bags and what they can hold.
Happy shopping!
Tamrac 787 Configured for long lens.
Yes, partitions are movable and yes there are multiple tie points for a tripod.
Left and right sides are identical except for the carrying handle. I don't know if you can read the writing on the photos, so: The first picture shows the bag configured for a long lens That's a Nikon D2x with a 80-200 f2.8 lens measuring 9.5 inches. There is another 5.5 inches to spare. Sorry, yours won't fit crosswise.
This bag cost me over a hundred used. It was $400 new. You can have it for $29 plus shipping.
planepics has first dibs, but if anybody else wants it let me know.

I use two ThinkTank rollers and they by far the best camera bags I owned.
I have several camera backpacks and some with that have wheels and some that do not. At the end of the day, any camera back will probably carry more weight that you intended to in the first place. I find at 20 liters, there is more than enough space to carry far too much camera gear weight. The quest to carry everything is going to hurt. Having the ability to roll things around is sometimes important and having something to use to transport gear as carry on is vitally important to me. Smaller camera bags or packs are also what I use for the day's work. Having several camera bags, camera backpacks (rolling and not), or cases (rolling and not) is ultimately what I've done. Just as a single lens cannot cover all photography needs, and as we add more lenses, bodies, and gear, one camera bag/backpack cannot cover all needs. If not already mentioned, Lowpro and Thinktank and Peak Design all offer great camera backpacks and bags of all kinds.

Thanks for the suggestions and some were cheaper (or pricier) but I just got off chatting with Adorama and was going to take advantage of a one-day sale and get more than I need (can use it for gear AND some clothes if I travel).
https://www.adorama.com/msmp1v2.html Ended up getting it from the Used department, rated E+, not for the $119 advertised, but got a better deal...$109 with free shipping. I couldn't turn it down. Now I can buy more stuff :)

That looks like a definite winner!
